Visits and Tastings in the Land of Brunello: an unforgettable wine experience

Wine Lover? If you love wine and want to visit the cellars you are in the right place! Tuscany, and in particular this splendid area south of Siena, is the home of many highly prized and famous red wines, such as Brunello di Montalcino (perhaps the most celebrated red wine), but also Orcia DOC, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano and Chianti Classico.

The element that undoubtedly unites these historical denominations is the landscape, one of the most characteristic and fascinating of Tuscany, and perhaps the most beautiful countryside in the world. An area that varies from the lunar one of the Crete Senesi to the gentle hills with rows of cypresses, castles and abbeys, farms and medieval villages of the Val d’Orcia.

If you love Montalcino wine it is a must for your journey and your experience, especially during the harvest period in September and October, the best time to discover and taste Brunello di Montalcino, one of the most famous and well-known wines in the world.

Thanks to the dry climate and the hilly position, the vines can grow in the best conditions, sheltered to the south by Monte Amiata. And there is no doubt that wine is one of the main attractions of the village.

Montalcino is located south of Siena a few kilometers from our Podere Salicotto farmhouse. The village fits perfectly into the landscape where the vineyards reign, the flagships of this area and the view that opens to the eyes once you reach the top of Montalcino is a real spectacle.

The name of the village derives from Mons Ilcinus, that is the mountain of holm oaks, and this is precisely why we owe the singular name of the inhabitants of Montalcino: ilcinesi.

You should take advantage of this magical time of the year to enjoy a relaxing holiday in our farmhouse and visit the Brunello cellars.
