Here is another interesting travel-tip for slow travelers… Tuscany is a land full of wonders of nature, art treasures and food and wine delicacies. But did you know that Tuscany is also the Italian region with more thermal baths and wellness centers?
And most of them are in the Siena province. This is thanks to Mount Amiata, a dormant volcano that gives rise to the thermal waters of the area.
In this land of charm you can enjoy a break of wellness and relaxation, thanks to the many thermal springs that you will find on the territory. Our farmhouse Podere Salicotto is located a few kilometers from some of the most beautiful thermal springs in Tuscany. You will be spoiled for choice between beautiful spas and charming natural pools surrounded by nature.
Here are the most beautiful thermal baths:
A real jewel in Val d’Orcia, a small romantic and picturesque village, a thermal destination already known since antiquity. Popes, saints and kings dove in the thermal waters of the village. Bago Vignoni develops around an extraordinary rectangular basin for the collection of thermal waters that occupies the entire square.
At Bagno Vignoni you can enjoy different solutions: for nature lovers there are natural pools, just below the ancient “mill park”. These pools receive a cascade of hot water that comes from the center of the village.
Here you will also find beautiful spas where you can enjoy moments of complete relaxation and treatments: Adler Thermae, Albergo le Terme and Hotel Posta Marcucci
BAGNI SAN FILIPPO
Going up towards the summit of Mount Amiata you will find another magical place: Bagni San Filippo. The thermal waters at Bagni San Filippo have created a very suggestive landscape, with white limestone formations, small waterfalls and natural pools inside the woods.
Once you reach the village follow the signs for the “Fosso Bianco”, descending along one of the paths on your right you will reach the stream and the thermal area.
The real attraction of Bagni San Filippo is the “White Whale”, an imposing limestone formation whose shape remembers the mouth of a whale.
As you may have understood, these are natural pools open to the public.
Chianciano Terme is suitable for families, couples, young and old, thanks to the wide range of services offered by the spas: Terme Sensoriali, Theia, Terme Sillene and the Acqua Santa and Fucoli Parks that surround them.
Moving a few kilometers in the opposite direction you are in the beautiful territory of the Crete Senesi and you reach the famous spa town of Rapolano Terme.
In Rapolano Terme you can restore your body and your spirit in the waters of two excellent spas: Terme di San Giovanni and the thermal complex of Antica Querciolaia. Here you will find many types of spa treatments, wellness and relaxation.
If instead you move to the west you reach another unique thermal town. Bagni di Petriolo are located in a concentration of art, history and nature, along the banks of the river Farma. We are near the natural reserve of Basso Merse into a beautiful landscape. The remains of the ancient city walls make Bagni di Petriolo an exceptional example of fortified baths. Here the thermal waters form small natural pools right along the banks of the river. As it descends, the thermal water mixes with that of the river and reaches lower and lower temperatures.
